Last night, Danbury Board of Education chairwoman Gladys Cooper responded to the racist remarks which was uttered during last month's virtual meeting.
School board chair Gladys Cooper said after she asked members to say the Pledge of Allegiance, a voice came over the Zoom call and made a racist remark toward Black people. A pornographic video then came on the screen.To say that Cooper didn't hold back her emotions regarding the unfortuante incident would be an understatment (warning: explicit language).“It was a cowardly act,” said Cooper, the only Black board member.
The meeting was stopped and later resumed on a different stream, which was posted on YouTube on Thursday.
The superintendent and mayor are investigating, Cooper said.
