The educational fiscal cliff is NOT new news...

School Superintendent Kevin Walston's recent fiscal cliff announcement, which was referenced by Mayor Roberto Alves in his State of the City Address, has come under fire by critics of the School Superintendent since news of the forthcoming financial disaster was well known for well over a year.

Here's a brief recap of the Education budget Ad-hoc committee meeting held in April of this year, where Superintendent Walston informed the City Council about the upcoming forecast.

Added to the clip is a very tense discussion by then City Councilman and former BOE Chair Irving Fox where he chastised the school representatives for not taking a more proactive approach to the upcoming budget hardships.

Again, word of the fiscal cliff is NOT NEW NEWS. The budget concern was well known among members of the city council, members of the board of education, and members of the public who have followed this subject for well over a year.
