Area Republicans nominate Michelle Coelho in State Senate campaign match-up

Last week, Republicans from the 24th State Senate district endorsed Michelle Coelho as their choice to defeat State Senator Julie Kushner and flip the historically center-right district back to the red.

The race will be a rematch of the 2022 competitive race, in which Coelho lost by the smallest margin among all Republican State Senate challengers. Coelho's candidacy has attracted the attention of GOP State Senate leadership and the State GOP, with both groups declaring that defeating Kushner, whom they describe as someone who prioritizes issues of labor over district concerns, is their top objective.
