The village idiot strikes again...insults Public Works Department (and everyone's intelligence)

Saturday, November 22, 2008
Time: 2:23 PM

Basso_CloudShe's at it again!

Danbury's infamous xenophobe Pauline Basso brought a new sense of rejoice and happiness to all the members of the Common Council this week. Not because the former Majority Leader and well known bigot spoke in front of the Common Council during Monday's Public Hearing but because the members of the council no longer had to put up with her moronic bullshit.

Lets talk about the latest ramblings from the old woman who take up most of her day yelling at clouds...

During Monday's public hearing an ordinance that will impose a fine on homeowners who snow removal services place snow into the street, Basso had the audacity to insult the public works department by LYING suggesting that when snow plowers go by her street, that they drive too fast and throw snow from the street onto her porch.

I'm not kidding folks, she actually said this and as you can expect, her remarks were not well received by the members of the council...nor was it received well be the member of the Council or the head of the public works department Antonia Iadarola.

Watch...

Now, Iadrola had good reason to be a tad pissed off...Basso was showboating for the camera as well as LYING her ass off.

Look, anyone who knows anything about Basso KNOWS DAMN WELL that if any snow from a snowplower from the city hit any part of Basso's porch, she would have been the first person calling Iadrola complaining about it. Hell, I bet if you check the records of the Public Works or Police Department, Basso's name would be near the top of the list when it comes to some type of complaint.

As Iadrola stated, it's a FAR stretch to think that a loud-mouth dolt like Basso would wait months after the winter season to complain about snow on her porch...and to only make this complaint during a public hearing in front of the numerous cameras that were recording the hearing (the meeting will be broadcast on Danbury Live tonight at 7:00).

For Basso to insult the the hard workers of the public works department that work their asses off keeping the streets clear of snow during the winter storms is not only an insult to the department, but an insult to everyone's intelligence.

Let's look at a couple of images that proves that Pauline is full of shit.

The first image is a satellite shot of Basso's street (Hoyt) and house (numebr 8). If you look at the map, you can clearly see that Pauline's house is near the end of the street where Hoyt intersects with Rose Hill.

Basso_Map

Now here's an image of her house, yard, and street.

Basso_Road_02

...and another shot of her house (mark on red), porch (marked in blue) and street. In the shot, you can see how close her house is to the intersection of Hoyt and Rose Hill.
Basso_Home01

Okay, now it doesn't take a rocket scientist to come to these conclusions:
  • In order for the snow plow trucks to hit Basso's porch, they would have to throw the snow at least 15 feet from the street in order to hit her porch. This would require a good deal of speed.

  • Based on the images ALONE, the snow plow trucks have to DECELERATE NOT ACCELERATE as they go by Basso's house since they're coming to the end of the street.

  • The chances of plowers throwing snow over 15 feet on a secondary road with such a small area to decelerate is VERY REMOTE if not impossible.

  • Even if there were a chance that this could happen (and trust me, it didn't happen) someone with a mouth like Basso would be the first to complain (remember, this is a person who WAS on the Common Council).

  • If the plowers hit Basso's house, they would have hit other homes on the road as well...hmm, why didn't anyone else complain of snow hitting their homes? Remember, the director of public works clearly stated that this was the FIRST TIME HE'S EVER HEARD OF SUCH A COMPLAINT FROM BASSO

Trust me folks, Basso is simply full of shit and should be ashamed of herself. Now, I'll admit at being somewhat critical at the snow removal during a fast moving blast of snow last year but that pales in comparison to the outlandish crap spewed out of Basso's mouth on Monday. Fortunately, after her emails were exposed to the public, it's fair to assume that most people (including most of the council who rolled their eyes during Basso's rant) will just think that this is just more par for the course from Danbury's village idiot.

State Rep Jason Bartlett does CNN

Thursday, November 20, 2008
Time: 10:23 PM

Picture 1This afternoon, State Rep. Jason Bartlett did an interview on CNN in which he discussed the issue of gay rights and it's complexity in the African-American community.

With backlash in Connecticut and across the country against California's passage of the anti-gay Proposition 8, Connecticut recognizing gay marriage, Rep. Bartlett gave his perspective on being a African-American homosexual and why the topic of LBGT equality needs to be addressed within all races.

For those who weren't following his campaign, Rep. Bartlett was victim to what can EASILY be considered homophobic attacks from a slew of radical Republican extremists in Bethel.

Ranging from elected officials members and people who issued outrageous comments on local access television or in the comment section of the News-Times, Bartlett's sexual orientation was constantly under attack in ways that were unimaginable. Ultimately, the homophobia towards Bartlett (as well as a laundry list of other idiotic attacks from Bethel's laughable GOP members) proved not to be a factor in the election but further illustrated the discrimination that still exists towards gays and lesbians in this area.

Now with the election over, and the topic of gay rights making it's way to front and center in the media, in this interview Rep. Bartlett offered insight into something that's still a somewhat taboo topic within the African-American community. Rep. Bartlett's candid discussion on a very sensitive topic made this interview all the more interesting as well as informative.

The verdict is in

Swastikas found at Western

Wednesday, November 19, 2008
Time: 3:53 PM

Racism reared it's ugly head once again as police at Western Connecticut State University are investigating who drew two swastikas on campus.

Fox61 and WTNH both filed reports on the incident.

University President James W. Schmotter issued the following statement.

"This symbol of hate has no place on our campus. Those responsible for these cowardly actions either hold values antithetical to those of our community or are ignorant of the historical meaning of this loathsome symbol."

"Such values are not welcome here, and we will continue to combat the ignorance that accompanies them."

Anyone with information should call Western's police department at (203) 837-9300

Hark! More fine examples of racist comments in the News-Times for me to hand over to the Southern Poverty Law Center.

...Danbury's xenophobia up close in personal.

killallspics

Immigrants are ANIMALS. And they STINK. We need to start lynching them just like we did to the coons back in the day. That'll teach these dirty munkeys to stay out of Connecticut.

Ray Sissum

Black people stink.

...and the hits keep coming, complete with praise from other readers!

Comments

Thanks Mayor Boughton for ripping this once fine city apart (and ducking all responsibility)!

As I stated several times, at some point the News-Times needs to take responsibility in regards to these disgusting statements and change the way in which they allow people to comment in the site. A simple modification to the topix service in which a individual is required to sign up with a real name as well as a verifiable email address would go a long way in running the scum back into the sewer where they belong.

This issue with the newspaper has gone on for too long and sooner or later the News-Times will be faced with a very large, well organized PR campaign/boycott against them and their online advertisers...which is long overdue.

UPDATE 11.18.08: Forgot to add this gem...and the individual who posted this crap used the name of a News-Times reporter.

Demanding action on the Lieberman censure resolution one DTC at a time

Time: 2:44 PM

Let this be a reminder on the importance of being politically active in your community and why speaking out at your local Democratic Town Committee meetings can make a difference.

Now that the elections are over, the members of State Central will be forced once again to address the proposed resolution to censure Joe Lieberman. As you know, the issue of slapping Joe on his wrist was tabled by State Central until after the November elections and one of the rationales behind this decision was to to give time for Democratic Town Committee across the state to discuss the matter.

As a Ned Lamont supporter who saw first-hand how reluctant State Central and most "stick with Joe" DTCs are when it comes to ANYTHING critical of our junior senator, I made it a case to make sure to attend my local DTC's next meeting in Danbury and witness whether or not the Lieberman censure would be brought up for debate. On checking my DTC's website and seeing that the censure resolution was not on the agenda I did what every person who's fed up with Lieberman should do...made a photocopy of the resolution for every DTC member and request that they add the Lieberman item to their agenda and offer State Central an up or down vote on the proposal.

As I stated earlier, most DTC consists of several "stick with Joe" Democrats who supported Lieberman after the primary and my local DTC is no different (which is quite evident as you watch the footage). In the end, after much back and forth discussion between former supporters of Lieberman and people who wanted to take action, the committee to agree to approved an amended version of the resolution which was presented to State Central last week.

Although slightly different from the original proposal, the approved resolution gave several "stick with Joe" Democrats an opportunity to voice their disapproval with Lieberman. Being this matter to the committee also forced at least one other DTC to send a message to State Central in support of doing something about condoning Lieberman's actions during the presidential campaign.

Although this video of the debate is a bit long, I hope by watching it, more people will be encouraged to attend their local DTCs meetings before December and demand that they send chairwoman Nancy DiNardo and the members of State Central a message about censuring Lieberman once and for all.

Find the DTC in your area, tell them to address the Lieberman censure resolution, and demand an up or down vote on the proposal. While you're at it, spread the word about the online petition to censure Lieberman and get your friends to support the cause.

Remember, one person can make a difference!

(You can view a copy of the original resolution and modified resolution that was approved by the Danbury DTC below).

On September 26, 2007, ten plaintiffs filed suit in response to an arrest of aday laborers at a public park in Danbury, Connecticut. Plaintiffs amended their complaint on November 26, 2007.

The amended complaint states that plaintiffs sought to remedy the continued discriminatory and unauthorized enforcement of federal immigration laws against the Latino residents of the City of Danbury by Danbury's mayor and its police department.

Plaintiffs allege that the arrests violated their Fourth Amendment rights and the Connecticut Constitution because defendants conducted the arrests without valid warrants, in the absence of exigent circumstances, and without probable cause to believe that plaintiffs were engaged in unlawful activity. In addition, plaintiffs allege that defendants improperly stopped, detained, investigated, searched and arrested plaintiffs. Plaintiffs also allege that defendants violated their Fourteenth Amendment rights when they intentionally targeted plaintiffs, and arrested and detained them on the basis of their race, ethnicity and perceived national origin. Plaintiffs raise First Amendment, Due Process and tort claims.

Plaintiffs request declaratory relief, damages and attorneys fees.
