You have to wonder what was going through the mind of Mark Boughton and his ilk at the Danbury Republican Town Committee as they prepare for their lovefest with one of the most divisive, iditoic members of the Tea Party, the nortorious Allen West.
By giving their blessing to the former Congressional clown from Florida, it's safe to assume that Boughton and the party of hatred and deceit are in agreement with West's attitude towards women.
RAW STORY: Allen West slams female soldiers: Why aren’t women in the NHL?
Former Rep. Allen West (R-FL) on Thursday dismissed women in combat as a “foray” into an “equality trip.”The Department of Defense recently lifted its prohibition on women serving in combat positions. The military is expected to open 230,000 new positions to women.
“I have to tell you, if this is the case, then why do we have separate hockey leagues?” West said on CNN. “Women should be out there playing ice hockey with the guys in the NHL. We should not have a WNBA. I can’t shoot a three-pointer, but there are ladies who could certainly take me to the hoop. Maybe they should be competing with Kobe Bryant.”
The former congressman and Iraq veteran blasted the “social experiment” earlier in the day on his Facebook page, suggesting that women could not be as effective soldiers as men. He warned that opening front-line positions to women “could potentially lead to the demise of our military.”
“GI Jane was a movie and should not be the basis for a policy shift,” he wrote on Facebook. “I know Martha McSally, have known women who are Apache and Cobra helicopter pilots, and served with women who were MPs, but being on the ground and having to go mano y mano in close combat is a completely different environment.”
THINK PROGRESS: Allen West: Liberal Women Are ‘Neutering American Men’
Last week, Tea Party favorite Rep. Allen West (R-FL) addressed his base at a Women Impacting Nation (WIN) meeting in Boca Raton, FL. WIN’s mission is to “educate and equip women with knowledge of God’s truth” and “to support those who take a stand for those Judeo-Christian values upon which our country is founded.” West used examples of “historical fiction” to instruct attendees on the proper role for American women — namely, to make strong men.West first weaved the ancient society of Sparta — a culture that practiced eugenics and inspired Adolf Hitler — into an example of the role of women. “What made the Spartan men strong, it was the Spartan women,” he said. “Because the Spartan women at the age of nine gave up their male sons” to train for the army. West then exulted conservative women to come forth and “lock shields” to “strengthen up the men who are going to the fight for you.” Painting women’s rights advocates as “women that have been neutering American men,” West charged attendees to fight these apparent castrators who want to force male subservience:
WEST: We need you to come in and lock shields, and strengthen up the men who are going to the fight for you. To let these other women know on the other side — these planned Parenthood women, the Code Pink women, and all of these women that have been neutering American men and bringing us to the point of this incredible weakness — to let them know that we are not going to have our men become subservient. That’s what we need you to do. Because if you don’t, then the debt will continue to grow…deficits will continue to grow.
...and then there's this gem.
So, what’s really in Allen West’s mind when it comes to women?A letter handwritten by West and addressed to his wife during his tour as Army lieutenant colonel in Iraq in 2003 could provide an insight.
The missive, exclusively obtained by Gossip Extra, shows in details about how West feels about, and what he wants to do with, Dr. Angela West, his wife and a doctor in education who sits as a trustee on the board of Florida Atlantic University.
Gossip Extra has chosen to withhold publication of the letter because of its nature.
But in it Allen West, who wrote it days before he became entangled in an incident of torture that cost him his military career, shows himself to be a romantic at times, telling Angela: “I miss you and cannot wait to see you.”
He humbly tells her that, although he doesn’t compare physically to the male models of the movie Soul Food, he will always do his best to always be “a clean cut, healthy and affectionate man!”
At other times, the Christian conservative tea party candidate – who’s running for a district that stretches along the coast from Palm Beach Gardens to Fort Pierce – gets a little more, shall we say, daring!
The congressman proceeds tells his wife he expects certain intimate acts upon his return that will be “the standard and it is non-negotiable.”
He tells her: “From now on, you will wear two-piece swim suits when on vacations.”
Then: “Angela, I need to know, are you committed to being my porn star?
“I do not want to hear ‘no’ or ‘we’ll see about that.’ I want my fantasies to be with you. God has authorized you and you only as my partner for intimacy and that is what I want.”
And he signs off: “Get ready!”
You can read West's alleged letter here...needless to say that this is rather NSFW.
Given our dishonest mayor's attitude towards alleged "infatuated" women, I guess Allen West and Mark Boughton are a match made in heaven.
...more to come.
